All the nice things about Nice

My friend, the Camel Riding Cowgirl, has had a difficult few months, and today is her birthday. So a few weeks ago we decided that she needed to be spoiled a little at the end of the summer...to make up for May and everything since, as well as to celebrate her birthday and to inaugurate a better year. We decided to do all of that in style. When in France, what is more stylish than the French Riviera?

So we came to Nice.

And for three days we've made one long running joke about the word nice. Thus, here are all the nice things about Nice.

1. Our fancy schmancy hotel with a private garden. The staff give us free Yves Rocher shampoo and body gel, and well...that's so nice of them.
2. There is a gorgeous waterfall that sprayed us to cool us off after climbing a hill to see it. The refreshing cool mist was so nice. As was the view of Nice from above.
3. Grapefruit gelato. Who knew?! Nice and zesty.
4. Old Town was not what I expected--much like Ve-Nice--and it was oozing with charm. Not just your average nice little French town. It was Nice.
5. Being utterly lazy: a relaxing, quiet morning, taking nice long naps, reading on Nice benches, watching movies, taking baths, painting our nails. So nice.
6. Oh, the beach...not so nice. Actually, sort of naughty. We have discovered that while we find clothing to be nice, it's not very Nice.
7. The hotel staff nicely recommended three restaurants to us, and we tried two of them. Camel Riding Cowgirl says the first was a "culinary masterpiece of Nice-oise food." Seriously, it was one of the best meals I've had in France. It was more than nice.

It's getting late and we have an early train ride tomorrow morning, so I'll end the nice jokes there. It's been nice telling you about Nice. Okay, really, I'll stop now...
