Beam me up Scotty!

Holly was explaining various ways for me to pronounce the ghein sound.
Holly was explaining various reasons why I cannot write whatever word the way I did.
Holly was explaining various homonymal sounds in her alphabet.
Holly was explaining various rules concerning pronouns.

Holly was putting my to sleep.

Or maybe, I was asleep already. She rattled on and on, sometimes in English, sometimes not. It was one of those days I was having difficulty decifering any language.

I started intently at her, agreeing "uh-huh" every few seconds. Meanwhile, my brain was elsewhere.

Swimming laps in a pool.
Curled up in my reading chair with a good book.
Watching a football game with a friend.
Cooking for five very fun teenage giggling girl friends of mine.
Anywhere, but there in that classroom.

"Salaam? Hello? Say 'oo' not 'oi'."

"oo."

Where are those Star Trek body transporters when you need them?
