One of those kind of women

I've almost become one of those kinds of women.

The ones you see in movies based in New York City who ride in cabs and argue with the taxi driver which streets, tunnels, and bridges to take. "No, no, no, take 137th street to intersect with Blah blah blah street so you'll miss the construction detour on 14th. Of course I know about the exploded sewer in the X Tunnel. That's why you turn on Blah blah blah street so that you can then make a U-turn and cut back over to M Avenue."

That kind of woman.

Yes, I argued with my taxi driver about which way to go. And I realized that everytime I get in now, headed in a certain direction, I have to resist the temptation to tell him to drive a particular route.

It turns out, I was right yesterday. My way was quicker. And the way I always want to tell them to go is so that I don't have to ride through the 100% worker MAN area of town. Is it worth it? So far, (except for last night), I haven't wanted to be that annoying kind of woman and so I've kept my mouth shut.

But in arguing with him last night, I realized something. Somewhere in the last four months, I've learned my way around enough to know which ways are quicker, which ways are safer (feeling), and the names of all the roads and round-a-bouts (according to taxi drivers, not to signs).

Seems like maybe the nomad is settling in a bit. I'll keep you posted on whether I decide to become that kind of woman or not.
